Mary’S Tan Square


My own version of Tan Square

Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 t baking powder
  • 11/4 cups brown sugar
  • approx 200g chocolate chips
  • 250g melted butter
  • 1 can Highlander caramel

Directions

  2. Method
  3. Sift flour and baking powder into a bowl. Stir in brown sugar.
  4. Add melted butter, mix well.
  5. .Press ¾ of the mixture (reserve ¼ of the mixture for the topping) into greased sponge roll tin. Bake in a preheated oven, 180 degC, for 10-12 minutes.
  6. Stir caramel until smooth, then spread over base. Sprinkle the remaining crumb mixture over the caramel. Return to the oven and bake at 180 deg C for a further 10 minutes.
  7. Remove from oven and sprinkle over chocolate chips.
  8. .Cool until well set then cut into slices.
