Central Otago Savory Lamb Chops


This recipe is so different from any other lamb dish.
The ingredients combined make such a lovely flavour and can be eaten with most vegetables.

This recipe was given to me by my Mother.

It is a winner because once you start eating it you do not want to stop. It is also a very economical lamb dish.
Very quick and easy to prepare.

Ingredients

  • 6 Central Otago Shoulder Lamb Chops
  • 2 Tablespoons Flour
  • 2 Tablespoons Tomato Sauce
  • ½ Teaspoon Curry Powder
  • ½ Teaspoon Mixed Spice
  • 1 Cup of Water
  • 2 Tablespoons Brown Sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon Vinegar
  • ½ Teaspoon Ginger
  • ½ Teaspoon Mustard
  • 2 Tablespoons Sherry
  • 1 Onion (sliced)
  • Salt and Pepper to taste

    Directions

    1. Trim all fat from chops and place in an ovenware dish.
    2. Place sliced onion over top of chops.
    3. Mix rest of the ingredients together.
    4. Pour over chops.
    5. Place lid on dish and leave to stand for 2 hours.
    6. Bake in slow oven (170 d celsius) for 2 hours.
