Pear & Ham Stroganoff


This is a very unusual combination and I first tasted this at a friends house about 18 years ago. Very simple and looks and taste wonderful. Has never failed to impress.

Ingredients

  • 820g Pear Halves/Quarters (drained)
  • 455g Ham Steaks (Ham steak per person)
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 2 onions sliced
  • Small clove of garlic crushed
  • 170g mushrooms sliced
  • 1 green pepper cut into strips
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup sour cream

    Directions

    1. Cut ham steaks into strips. Set aside. Melt butter in pan, add onions and garlic and fry until golden. Add ham, mushrooms, green pepper and cook briskly for 3 mins. Season and pour in sour cream and pears. Cook for 15 mins stirring occasionally.
    2. Nice served with crispy noodles and a salad
