Ingredients

  • 1-2kilos topside beef
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon allspice
  • half teaspoon pepper
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 tablespoon molasses
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons brandy
  • 3 medium onions
  • one third cup of stock
  • 2 tablespoons white vinegar
  • quarter teaspoon anchovy paste
  • 1 cup cream

Directions

  1. Rub the meat with salt pepper and allspice.
  2. Heat butter and brown meat all over. Pour brandy on meat.
  3. Add all ingredients and blend.
  4. Simmer covered
  5. After approx 2 hours, remove and slice meat.
  6. Make gravy from pan dripping.
  7. Fold in a quarter teaspoon of anchovy paste and 1 cup whipped cream.
