Bottled Italian Spaghetti Nz Style


This recipe has been made for years by our family and friends. Over time we have modified recipe, so that we can just bottle or freeze the tomato base and cook spaghetti later, although my mum always said this is the best and only way to do it..
Tomato base can be used in all sorts of dishes.

Ingredients

  • 3kgs tomatoes
  • 1 1/2 kgs onions
  • 6tsp salt
  • 1 packet Spaghetti
  • good cup brown sugar

    Directions

    1. Vitamise or wizz onions and tomatoes.
    2. Boil onions and tomatoes well.
    3. Add salt and sugar
    4. Boil spaghetti in salted water for 15mins. strain and run under cold water.
    5. Add tomatoe and onion and boil again 5 mins
    6. Bottle and seal or freeze in containers.
