Humble Apple Crumble
Great, easy dish to please any dinner table. Using Granny Smith Apples to get a soft, smooth texture and a tangy flavour, for those who dont like it too sweet. The recipe is one that I have perfected since working in a bakery a number of years ago.

Ingredients
- 6 Large Granny Smith Apples (peeled, cored and cubed)
- 3 Tablespoons Brown Sugar
- 3 Tablespoons of Water
- 1 Teaspoon Cinnamon
- 1/4 Cup Sultanas
- 75g Butter
- 1/4 Plain Flour
- 1/4 Oats
- 1/4 Brown Sugar
- 35g Sliced Almonds
- Vanilla Ice Cream to Serve
Directions
- In a large pot add the apple with the Water, Brown Sugar (3 Tablespoons), Sultanas and Cinnamon.
- Simmer on a medium heat with lid on for 5 minutes, stirring often not to burn. The Apple should soft but not soggy.
- In a food processor (or by hand) blend together softened Butter, Flour, Oats and remaining Brown Sugar.
- Poor Apple mixture into oven proof dish. Sprinkle Almonds on top of apple followed by the Crumble mixture.
- Bake in a fan forced oven at 180 degrees for 25-35 minutes.
- Serve with Vanilla Ice Cream.
