Humble Apple Crumble

Great, easy dish to please any dinner table. Using Granny Smith Apples to get a soft, smooth texture and a tangy flavour, for those who dont like it too sweet. The recipe is one that I have perfected since working in a bakery a number of years ago.

  • 3 Tablespoons Brown Sugar
  • 3 Tablespoons of Water
  • 1 Teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1/4 Cup Sultanas
  • 75g Butter
  • 1/4 Plain Flour
  • 1/4 Oats

Directions

  1. In a large pot add the apple with the Water, Brown Sugar (3 Tablespoons), Sultanas and Cinnamon.
  2. Simmer on a medium heat with lid on for 5 minutes, stirring often not to burn. The Apple should soft but not soggy.

  4. Poor Apple mixture into oven proof dish. Sprinkle Almonds on top of apple followed by the Crumble mixture.
  5. Bake in a fan forced oven at 180 degrees for 25-35 minutes.
  6. Serve with Vanilla Ice Cream.
