Sultana Loaf


Always remember my Grandmother and mother making this. Tiny bit of butter and a nice cuppa and you are set.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of sultanas
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 25g butter
  • 1cup of boiling water
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon of mixed spice
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vaniilla essence

    Directions

    1. Mix sultanas , sugar, baking soda together.
    2. Add butter chopped up, then boiling water.
    3. Mix flour and spices together, add to mixture, stir, then egg and vanilla essence. Combine together.
    4. Put in loaf tin and cook on 150 for and hour.
    5. Check with knife, into cake that it comes out clean.
    Serves Cooking Time Prep Time
    who ever eats it first 1 hour 1 10 minutes

    A lovely loaf -the egg makes it more cake like . Took it to a meeting for morning tea and it disappeared! Worth trying
