  1. I was surprised at how delicious this was. Devoured by the family at one sitting.
My only deviation from recipe was pouring off the liquid in tin before adding the sauce.
When cooled it was actually all fat (1/3 cup), so if you want a healthier version I suggest that you try that.

  2. Love this recipe. An acquaintance shared this with me many years ago and I lost the recipe!
So glad I have found similar and have made it for dinner tonightβ™‘

  3. I’ve been using this recipe for years and it’s always good. Rolled oats can be used instead of breadcrumbs if you don’t have any and grated vege can be added too!

  4. Best hot or cold. Sauce can be made in the microwave cooking it for 2-3 minutes for 10-12 minutes then poured over the top. Sauce is great on its own.

  5. This is a family favourite recipe I have been using for years. It easily feeds our family of 4 with plenty of leftovers. Highly recommend!

  6. I love this recipe it’s my go to for meatloaf ❀️ I love to add grated vegetables in mine to get my daughter eating her veges too works a treat shes never knows

  7. I love this recipe, about to make it again and I am sure I will be quicker than I was the first time! It makes heaps, have forwarded the recipe to heaps of people no one dislikes it. YUM!!!

    1. That is just for all the sauce ingredients – boil them before basting. It makes a lot of sauce, so I put holes in my meatloaf with a thin chopstick before basting. Any leftovers I used as a pouring sauce. Hope that helps πŸ™‚

  8. No steps 5 and 6 are just how to prepare the sauce. The sauce is made separately and poured over the meatloaf for the last 45 minutes.

BTW I used hickory smoked BBQ sauce instead of Worcestershire sauce, and pureed tomatoes.

  9. Got the first part in the oven and then read the Sauce ingredients, put them together into a jug and then read the instructions for the sauce, perhaps I should have read the instructions for the sauce first as there seems to be two parts to it and perhaps two different sauces? Are some of the ingredients meant to be poured over the meat loaf for the second half of the cooking i.e. the 45 minutes? Then another sauce made with the rest of the sauce ingredients? πŸ™‚ A little puzzled, now have one jug full of all the sauce ingredients, may pour some over the meatloaf and then cook the rest but I may have a fail πŸ™ Will see how things end up. Will check back for an answer πŸ™‚

    1. This is an old recipe but one of the best…make the sauce first and then baste with half sauce
after meatloaf has been in the oven for half an hour – i like to poke the meatloaf with a sharp knife and then add some of the sauce – keep basting while cooking the other 45mins and save the other half of sauce for the end to coat before serving.

    2. The meat loaf (which is the first part of ingredients) is cooked for half an hour BEFORE you pour the sauce on. Try adding broken up chocolate or chocolate chips to the sauce – your meatloaf will be amazing! I’ve been making this recipe for 30 years (with chocolate) and my family love it.

    3. mix all sauce ingrediant together and boil then simmer 5mins pour over meatloaf after 30 minutes then finish cooking for 45minute wonderful meat loaf
